WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL
About the School
Established in 1938 in the heart of Jabalpur city, our institution began as a boys’ school. Recognizing the growing need for girls’ education and striving to make quality learning more accessible to young women in the region, the school was transformed into a girls’ institution in 1942.
Under the visionary leadership of our first principal, Late Shri V. Chandra, the school earned its recognition as a high school. In 1945, our first batch of girls successfully appeared for the matriculation examination. That same year, Smt. Manorama Chatterjee assumed the role of principal. Her tireless efforts, along with the guidance of the then Chairman of Hitkarini Sabha, Late Shri Prabhu Lal Karecha, played a crucial role in shaping the institution’s strong foundation and growing reputation.
A major milestone was achieved on February 4, 1976, when the then Chief Minister, Hon. Pt. Shyama Charan Shukla, officially renamed the school as “Babu Manmohandas Hitkarini Girls’ Higher Secondary School” in honor of Babu Manmohandas Ji, acknowledging his contributions to education and society.
As the 21st century unfolded and demand for English-medium education grew, the school management and Hitkarini Sabha took a bold step forward. In 2014, BMD Hitkarini Children Academy was established to meet this need, ushering in a new era of inclusive and modern education.
